  5. It is inspired by a need to raise voice to the many facets of our exponentially leveraged personalities. I have no idea whether others have succeeded in creating accounts for specific purposes, i.e., a main account for offering opinions for peer review, with an additional account to indulge one’s need to pour forth venom should the occasion arise to warrant this action. Regarding schizophrenia, the intellectual mettle of the bipolar contributors has inspired commentary as to the contracting of this mental disorder given the ingenious offerings spontaneously poured forth by the so afflicted…

No, it's a way for people to have an outlet that let's them behave in a manner that is out of the box for them.  ie. if they are normally a good person, it gives them the chance to be sarcastic and cynical.  Of course it doesn't help that there are tons of trolls out there. But that's the price to pay.
