True, I do agree that some fake flowers look better than others. I just dont see why so many people are anti-fake-flowers?

  1. I think that the reason that some people are anti-fake flower is that they're picturing cheap-looking plastic flowers. The truth is, fake flowers look MUCH more realistic now. I probably would've considered myself anti-fake-flowers... until I went to my friend's house six months after her wedding and saw her wedding bouquet sitting on a shelf, looking as gorgeous as it did at her wedding. I honestly had NO idea that her flowers weren't real when I saw them at her wedding! And unlike me, she didn't have a problem with some of her flowers showing up at her wedding looking wilted.

  2. I think fake flowers are ok, and you are right! On some of them you can't tell the difference. My thing with fake over real is that, too me, fake just feels cheap...I mean I know that in some cases they are actually more expensive but my first impression of fake is cheap. I guess I get the impression of a bunch of flowers from a dollar store that look awful.

If they are done correctly, they should be fine! Like someone else said, at least with fake ones you can keep them forever!

  3. I had fake flowers for my decorations. The only real flowers I used were for my bouquets. I think it is a smart idea since you can buy them for the same price or cheaper than real flowers, AND you get to keep them. If anyone leaves your wedding saying, "I cant believe they had fake flowers...." I think they are rude. Good luck!!

  4. I love fake flowers....other peoples reasons are that this is a wedding and its classy to have real flowers and fake flowers depends on where you get it, doesnt photograph well.  or some will say that they will cost as much as real ones...and mostly they think its just tacky.

I am having both...just because i am doing my own flowers, fake ones they will last forever and i can start making arrangments right now...and i dont like flower scents and not a flower person in general.  the real flowers...im going to summerge in water in vases and fish bowls...and i think my bridemaids would like real flowers for their bouquet...

I dont care what others will think...im just watching my wallet and my interests...my guest who are invited will not judge my wedding based on my flowers...if they do they should have not come...cause thats just rude.

  5. I am not anti-fake-flowers but I LOVE real flowers. I love the look, texture and smell. I love the symbolism of new life. I don't think fake flowers capture the same "life" as real blooms and that's the main reason I won't be having them.

But I suppose if you can't afford them or have allegries there is no reason not to get fake ones. It seems to be a personal preference. I just urge anyone who gets fake flowers to get NICE ones that look realistic. Sometimes the fake ones look too dollar-store and fake and can take away from a beautiful scene. But if they are done right, sometimes you can't tell the difference unless you are there.

  6. I don't see anything wrong with using faux flowers that at least have the appearance of the real thing. I wanted a lasting bridal bouquet, so I am having Princess Lasertron make mine from felt and buttons like the one on the right:

Mine will be kiwi, pale pink, white, and silver to suit my wedding colors. My point? If felt is okay, silk definitely is =]

  7. The bouquet is silk flowers.  I got a lot of compliments on it.

Nothing wrong with silk flowers.  You can buy them a bit at a time and save a bunch of money.  Plus, you always have them.

  8. I think that fake flowers are absolutely fine. I'm having real flowers at mine, but it's only because I found them at a wholesale price. Real flowers are usually outrageously expensive and honestly, often, if you get nice fake flowers, people can't even tell the difference between them!

  9. Fake flowers are not bad. You just have to know which ones to choose. I decided to go with real ones for my wedding because I liked the rich colors my roses provided. I noticed that some fake flowers tend to look dingy and dirty and nobody wants that for their wedding.

  10. As long as they look nice and don't look cheap, I dont have a problem with it. It can save you a lot of money.

  11. Fake flowers are not that bad to use. I used them for the whole wedding except for my bouquet.

  12. We had fake flowers at our wedding, and still have some of them!  They're beautiful in our china cabinet.  :)

  13. I've never heard anyone complain about silk flowers at a wedding.  And trust me, I've been to a lot of weddings in our big family.  If anyone does complain, it has to be so low on the totem pole that no one will even care about such petty things.

And if they were so bad to have, then why is the silk flower shops making so much darn money on wedding flower arrangements.  Just a thought.

  14. I used fake flowers for the boutineers and mine and the best woman's flowers.

We used the greenery that the church already had.

I couldn't see spending thousands of dollars on flowers that just die in a few days.

We did use real flowers for our center pieces and the mothers/grandmothers corsages.  They were all bought from a grocery store florist.

Some say not to mix real and fake, but I did and don't have any regrets.

  15. I"m doing silk!  I found a great place and they sent me a sample and they look real!  the prices are about 80% cheaper then real flowers and I can keep my bouquet without having to dry it!

  16. i used fake flowers as centerpieces and i heard alot of guests saything they thought they were real.  i thought they looked nice.

  17. Fake flowers are not that bad.  If you are going to use them at least you can keep them forever.

  18. Not at all.. and think about it, these ones will never wilt, and will look just as pretty as they did on your wedding day.

  19. i don't think i'd care at all... i'd think the couple was logical for not spending a small fortune on plants that are going to be ending up in the garbage.

  20. I just don't like them. There are some that are nice, but I prefer real flowers.

  21. OK, I always wondered why people are so against fake flowers. Personally I love them because they last for ever! I had fake flowers at my wedding and no one knew but the bridal party and parents! Every one said they were lovely actually have a friend getting married and asked who was my florist! Totally didn't believe me till I pulled them out and showed her!

Some do look fake and that maybe why so many hate the idea. Personally I hate the idea of paying to have them dried (which by the way they use the powder from kitty litter) trying to be careful where they sit, or lean up against. The weather out side might effect the flower etc....

I think it up to the bride and groom. Best wishes in all your planning!

  22. Flowers just die anyways. I am wanting to use real flowers for the bouquets/boutonnieres/corsages for the mothers.  Anything after that I am using fake!  I am not using real flowers for decorations that noone will want or even pay attention too.
