Is he a cop or fbi?

some dude dress in normal civilian cloth park his car infront of my house. came up to my door with his badge and license of something I couldn't read it fast enough. But asking me if he could hang around in my drive way cause he's on surveillance. is he just a normal cop?

Hes not very good at his job if he has to approach you and tell you what hes doing, he should be able to do it without getting noticed.

Could be either.  h**l, he could have been a security guard.  You could have told him you didn't have time to read his badge and would like to see it again, and if he checked out he could sit in your driveway :)

UNDER ANY CIRCUMSTANCES, do not believe some people. These dude dress in normal civilian cloths park his car infornt of your house, and came up putting their badge and license. SOME PEOPLE NOW a days are crooks. THEY BELIEVER all people are just idiots and do not know what is a real cops or not.

IF YOU SUSPECT SOMETHING wrong, then call the police department for assistance. Because in my own opinion, if you really want to check their real identity then call the police and tell them there are people outside your home and telling they are cops and in a stake out. Real cops do not hang around houses and bringing out badge to near by home and telling them they are cops. IF THEY ARE IN A STAKE OUT, therefore they should be like a ghost unseen and out of sight, don't you think? But here in your case, they park obviously infront of your house and even came to your door bringing out their badge and license which you didn't notice because they remove it from your face.

THIS ARE NOT REAL COPS. They could be hoodlums on a vengeance mode or a score to settle with someone else, or they could be robbers telling you to ask that they hand around in your drive way cops do not do such things hanging around someone else DRIVE WAY.  USE YOUR COMMON SENSE and call the real cops this time and arrest these dudes hanging infront of your house.

Remember the old saying trust your instinct, if you smell something fishy call the cops.

If he is Police he would show a warrant card and a badge. Most probably a private investigator or a burglar checking the area out.

You have a legal right to inspect any police officers identification, they have to show it to you and allow you to read it, not just flash it. You could have also called your local police and have them come and check this guy out. If you told him you were calling the police and if he was fake, he most likely would have fled the scene. Who knows, he may have been staking your house out to rob, or even your neighbors.

Sounds like a private investigator to me.

Any law enforcement officer would have made it clear who he was.
