Question:

Is he going to be made fun of?

I love the old-fashioned way of giving two middle names for boys, but I'm afraid he'll get a lot of grief when he's in school if I give my baby the name of Ryan Carter Benjamin Higgins if it's a boy. Would that be too terrible of a name? Would you shorten it to just one middle name, and if so would you take out Carter or Benjamin?

I try to reason that middle names are rarely used so it shouldn't matter, but I have enough experience to know that the topic of middle names comes up in random conversation, and it only takes one person finding out for an unusual middle name(s) to spread quickly.

  1. Neither of those are unusual names. I think they're nice, and people would be fascinated with the fact that he has two middle names, more-so than what they are. I don't think you have anything to worry about.

Ryan Carter Benjamin Higgins is a nice name. =]

  2. it wont be a problem even if it does come up in conversation because they are not weird names. they are all lovely names and at school and elsewhere he will be known as Ryan Higgins.

if you do drop one then i would keep Ryan Benjamin Higgins

  3. He won't be made fun of because of how many names he has....just the name itself.  I would take out Carter....too random, doesn't really sound like a name for a boy.  Ryan Benjamin is beautiful the way it is.  Don't feel like you have to have 2 middle names.

  4. Well for starters I love the name. If I had someone with that name at school I wouldn't think its weird. It seems like alot of people are using 2 middle names these days. If you did cut a middle name out, I'd say cut out Benjamin and if you have another son use that as a first name. Ryan Carter Higgins sounds cute, but so does Ryan Carter Benjamin Higgins. I love the name Ryan,...cos of the OC lol. I wouldn't think he'd be picked on....maybe if you spelt the name Riian Kartar Bendgamen Higgins...I hate it when people do that lol.

  5. My eldest has 2 middle names and has never been picked on for it. His name is Jacob Lewis Martin Roker. the only problem we have is if he's been naughty and we call out his full name, leaves us slightly breathless lol. Personally, i love the names you have chosen

  6. I don't think the number of names gets you teased; I think it's the name itself that gets you teased.  I think Carter is a little bit trendy but not too bad.  I like Ryan Benjamin, myself, but I really don't think it would be bad to use both.

  7. i dont think he would get fun of, but i dont think they really go together. both names sound good just as one, but not together.

  8. I think it's just more of a headache than anything, really.  And I don't think it adds anything for him... I think Ryan C. B. Higgins looks kind of strange too.  Think about when he's going out into the professional world.

I like Ryan Benjamin Higgins the best.  It's syllables are 2-3-2, which is a nice balance, but not sing-songish.  Also, Ryan B. Higgins looks/sounds better than Ryan C. Higgins.  Although I love the name Carter, the initial "B" has a stronger sound than "C" and will look great on a resume!

    Hope this helped.  Good luck!

  9. i was wondering that same thing.i named my daughter Tiana ,in a town where she is still the only one.didn't think of a way  anyone could tease her with it,so my sister in law came up with one ,it rolled right off her tongue..lol but she told me kids find a way to tease other kids in multiple ways .turned out she got teased for red hair by a boy on the bus ,she had strawberry blond, first day on the bus.she adapted though and has lots of friends now.so dont worry and goodluck.

  10. i think its nice my middle name is martin

  11. I love them.....it is so nice having a middle name! My husband has only his first name.....I have three.....I will definetly give my kids second names if not 3

  12. It is a little lengthy, but not too big of a deal to change if you really love it. Maybe consider saving one of those special names for your next child (if that is an option.)

  13. I don't see any reason why he would be made fun of, they're all nice names.

  14. I agree the middle name is hardly ever used ...so why bother?  The kid will feel more special without one.  If he misses it later on ...let him choose his own.   Two middle names is litter.

Thank you for calling and sharing … and shall we take our next call please.

  15. There's nothing uncivilised about that name :) If he gets picked on for it, it's not the name's fault. It'll be because someone feels like teasing him. I don't have a middle name, so don't think they are necessary, but my hubby insists. Just don't go more than two or you'll look like you're trying to mimic the royals!

  16. i think that is nice ....

my sons have two middle names .. the second one being my maiden name ...

i like the ring to four names  in a name.

My boys first names and 1st second name are also last names if that makes sense

    Thomas Michael ...... ......

    Mitchell Paul

  17. Don't worry about it, I have two middle names and have never been made fun of. The only downside of having two middle names is that sometimes there isn't enough room on forms to write my full name (my christian name, first middle name and surname are all on the long side). If you like all three names, give them to your son. There are much worse things than having two middle names!

  18. Nope, its fine. He wouldnt get picked on at all!

i have two middle names, and so do all my sisters.

I like it, and if you dont like one name, you have many to chose from ;P

And your names are great names anyway, so he defintetly wont get picked on.
