my dad's cell phone rings for 27 seconds before going to voicemail which is full. he left a message from a private # saying his phone is broken, though he has good reason to be lying about it. i thought that if a phone was off, it rings for a much shorter time. is he just letting it ring or could his phone really be broken but not 'off?' and i wonder why his mailbox is full if you can retrieve messages from other phones.

  1. no

  2. I agree with Cedric. The phone is the minor issue here. I don't trust phones or answering devices at all and have had so much trouble with them malfunctioning, that I don't doubt your dad's is broken, BUT the bigger issue is what's going on between the two of you. Don't waste your time and energy trying to determine if he lying about his phone. You've obviously spoken to him and will again. Work something out before it's too late to fix this relationship easily.

  3. Well, like probably 90% of people out there, I would be hard-pressed to get my VM from anywhere other than my cell which, if it doesn't tell me I have VM and direct me from there, I can, at least scroll through options.

The real issue is that the don't trust him.  Take advantage of counseling services wherever you go to school or work and get some grounded advice on how you can deal with your frustration.
