  1. Definitely masculin - un serre tete (sorry my aussie computer's got no accents)

  2. In french, as you know, we use masculin or feminin with no connection with the objet. A "serre-tête" is worn by women , but it is un masculin word :

We say "un serre-tête" (and not "une")

The plural of double word are sometimes stupid, but most of the time, the part which comes from a verb has no plural (serre) and the part which comes from a name take an "s". So I think it's "des serre-têtes".

Serre comes from the verb "serrer".

Tête has an accent "circonflexe"...like a little hat on the first "e". I think you don't have this thing on your keyboard ;)

  3. I think its feminine! I THINK!!!!!

It ends in E, alot of Words ending in E in French are feminine!

  4. "Serre-tête" is masculine

    However "tête" (head) is feminine.

    I have no idea why...

It seems that there are 2 accepted plural forms: serre-tête (traditional usage) and serre-têtes (modern usage).

  5. let me check.....

Im so srry! Im not sure! I looked on this website:

    http://www.wordreference.com/enfr/Headba...

But I couldnt find anything! I am certain you can find the answer on Google if you type in "Serre-tete;masc. or Femin?" I have no clue but I can say an e sometimes equals feminine on the end but not always. So check maybe your french book index or google.
