Is high school too late to be learning a new language?

I really want to learn Chinese but i have almost no base in the language. I have a lot of friends who can speak it but can't really read so i have some, not a lot, help in learning. People always say if you dedicate yourself to learning something you can do it, but is it too late to be learning such a complicated thing? especially since i will mostly be self-educating?

To answer that question I'll have to say, you're never to old to learn. My mother who is 40 now is just beginning to learn English, i started teaching her 2 weeks ago , and I can't begin to tell you how much she has improved  and excel in it in such a  short period of time. I Guess its all about determination and will power! BEST OF LUCK TO YOU!

A lot of people take foreign languages in high school. The thing with a complicated language like Chinese is, you have to be EXTREMELY dedicated, and I mean EXTREMELY. It is definetely not too late, but you are bound to be in a predicament if your not really that "willing" to take it, you probably shouldn't.

It is never too late to learn a new language. If you're really interested, try harder and harder and do not give up.

Chinese is a extraordinary language.

I'm chinese but i don't know much... i'm going to be in high school next year and i think that it's not too late to learn a new language.

Chinese is complicated... but beleive me.. IT IS SO WORTH IT. it's the #1 language.. (literally) and there are like billions of chiense people so emplyeers would LOVE you for knowing Chinese.

~~~~ Learn how to speak it.. Then read and write...

reading and writing are soo much harder.. but Chiense is a remarkable language and you can learn it yourself.. just keep repeating harder and harder sentances.
