I have never really learned any kind of dancing style and I keep doing the same monotonous dance moves in the shower :-)..I do really want to learn hip hop but I wonder if its too late because I will be 19 soon..is hip hop suitable for all age groups or are there any limitations because I dont know of very many middle aged hip hop dancers..I am planning to buy a beginners DVD for Hip Hop to get a jump start..I am then planning to join a school..does hip hop require a lot of felxibility..some of my friends are into dances like jazz and ballet. They have told me that hip hop is not a long term thing..so I am just curious if thats right..thanks for your answers

  1. having good flexibility helps, but you can start training now. Hip hop is pretty popular among teenagers, but i know of many adults who are great in hiphop. My batch of dancers as well as myself mostly start around age 16-19.

  2. No flexibility needed. I am 17 and I got into hip hop last year, its no problem. I took like 2 classes and now I choreograph my own dances. But you have to make sure you will be commited. Like I knew I wanted to hip hop dance as a hobbie, but I am a contemporary dancer as my job.

Here is a hip hop video: INTERMEDIATE:

By the way they are 22,20,23, and 26 so don't worry about age.lol.
