Is his kindergarten teacher too strict?

Basically my son is getting sent home with bad reports every day and his teacher thinks she has an unruly group of kids in her class, but I think they are just normal 5 year olds. My son gets in trouble for talking out of turn, not raising hand, taking shoes off, not listening to instructions, and once for picking up his table, I'm just trying to figure out if he's unruly, or if he's just 5 and what to do about either. She sends home a behavioral chart everyday and he gets yellow, or red every day and it is getting ridiculous, I don't want him to feel bad about himself.

  1. There was a news item about something like this....they had a little boy that said his teacher hated him and that she picked on him?  Well the parents put some sort of recorder in his pocket and they had her on tape ridiculing him in front of the class...constantly berating him and other things like that...boy that teacher got herself in trouble over that...

  2. I would speak to the principal about the teacher. Is she a new teacher with expectations that don't match the age of these kids? What kind of reputation does she have? Has she taught there a long time and all her previous classes love her? If so, you do have a problem. But that's probably not the case. Communication is very important. Talk to the principal.

  3. Ask to do an observation of the class. This way you can see what your child is doing and compare it to the other kids in the class. You can also see how the teacher is managing her class. It may be difficult if you have to do the observation in the room because your son (and teacher) may be on his best behavior.

  4. What grade does she think shes teaching the 3rd?

  5. She sounds ridiculous, it might be her first year teaching though, so she isn't sure what to do i guess, that might be why, maybe shes not good with kids(why did she become a teacher right(lol)

But you have a few options

    1. Ignore the stupid marks

    2. Talk to her about it

    3. Talk to the Principal

    4. Talk to the principal and get him a different class

    5. Switch schools

    good luck!!!!!

    d:^)

  6. this indeed is ridiculous. i suggest you have a conference with her, if not, the principle. your son does not deserve to get in so much trouble for silly little things like this.

  7. Sounds like she is...Maybe you should talk to her and/or the principal.
