Is his red eared slider sick/about to die?

cuz i have two turtles

and my little brother's is never eating.

stays in the basking area longer.and its shell is soft.not hard

  1. it should have a UVB bulb as well, this helps the turtle with calcium to keep the shell hard. take him to  a vet asap.


  2. It sounds like it has shell rot, and if it's bad it needs to be taken to the vet immediately.  Make sure you have a UVB light, it is absolutely necessary in their tanks.

  4. i'm sorry to say but probably yes. That happened 2 1 of my turtles once, and she passed. You can take it into an exotic vet and se if they can help. Yes this is life threatening.

  5. It sure does sound sick. You should really take it to your nearest veteranarian. I have over 20 box turtles all healthy and happy at the moment but I know how hard it is when one gets sick. I think bro's turtle might have phemonia wich is almost always fatal.

    How old is your turtle anyways?
