beans are good for you, lean beef isnt terrible, and then i add lots of canned and fresh veggies. It would seem healthy besides the sodium. but it tastes so yummy and unhealthy. what do you think.

  1. try a vegetarian chili-add more beans. also if youre using canned beans remember to drain them to get rid of the sugar thats put in the cans. add zuchinni and carrots and mostly fresh veggies.

  2. You make it and it is healthy because you don't ad the sodium and preservatives to yours like they do to canned or jar chili

Also, if you wash your meat in a strainer after you cook it then ad it that takes out the extra grease

Also, cook your dry beans don't get them from a can, this will be healthier too

    Send me some YUMMY

  3. Honest. made some tonite- I like mine with some macaroni now and then

  4. Like all recipes, there are always the healthier ways of preparing it.

    -Lots of beans for protein,

-Not too much meat, using a lean cut,

-Restrict how much salt you add,

-Try and use mainly fresh vegetables and avoid over-cooking them.

-If using pasta/rice, use whole meal varieties for extra fibre.

-Chilli is good! It speeds up the metabolism.

  5. Use fresh veggies, soak dried beans b/4 cooking & adding to chili.  Brown the meat & drain the fat.  Most of the "bad stuff" will come from the canned beans, (sugar & salt)

  6. yes.. if you limit your butter/oils and don't use too many canned vegetables because those are high in sodium and sugars. if you use fresh vegetables then it's healthy

  7. Yes, it's healthy if you're using very lean beef.  And, there shouldn't be too much sodium in there either, unless you're adding alot of salt.  I don't use any canned vegetables though (except diced tomatoes):  fresh bell peppers and sliced onions; minced garlic.....Sometimes I use beans, sometimes not:)  You can even add some finely grated carrots, which work as a natural sweetener (counteracts the acid in the tomatoes) and a slight thickener......
