  1. I've been home schooled since... oh, third grade or so, I'm going to be a sophomore in the Fall, and I love it.  It may not be right for everyone, the amount of social interaction can significantly decrease, and it depends a lot on your parents, but it gives you tons more freedom, both over what you learn and at what pace, it's so much faster (no waiting for other people to get their books out, no being shuttled between classes, etc.), it's safer (no worrying about guns, drugs, etc.) and it's just plain fun ^.^  As for whether colleges will accept you, I believe most will.  There might be a few that don't, but all the ones I've heard of just make you take placement tests to make sure you're as smart as you should be, and many colleges encourage homeschoolers to come there.  Also, it's quite likely that you'll be able to go to college sooner; I'm taking some classes at my community college to supplement what I'm doing at home, and those classes count both towards high school and college credit, and, if I keep up my current pace, I believe I could go to and graduate from a four-year college three years early.  I hope all this helps, and I hope you decide to do it!

  2. Home schooling is a great idea. Check with local home schooling groups. You will not be alone or the only student. Most groups work together and do far more than regular schools.

As for college, your scores will be what gets you accepted, not where you attended school.

  3. I homeschooled both of my children k-12. Both have been accepted into every college they applied to. My daughter went to college in two different states.

Both kids are doing great in college and did not have any real problems adjusting.

The only testing I did for college was the ACT. Whether public schooled, homeschooled or private schooled, most colleges will want ACT or SAT scores, and a high school transcript. You parents can put together a transcript and it will be accepted as long as it looks professional.

  4. Yeah, it is a good idea. I have been home schooled all of my life, and I love it. To get a high school degree, I think you take an online test or course your senior year. Some Colleges may not accept you, but they are mainly in California. I'm not sure about websites. You can always Google it.

  5. I hate homeschooling. I despise it!

    =)

  6. If you are going to separate yourself from the school to go to homeschool you are really only going to miss out on the social aspect of high school.  Most universities don't care where or how yuo went to high school.  personally I think you should home school and go to high school for the sports, or band etc... the social things you can't get at home.

  7. I was home schooled my whole life and I liked  it. Despite what everyone might say about never being able to meet other kids or go to prom, sports ect... its not true. I was in a homeschool group so they offered classes and we had prom, sock hops, winter formal, many types of sports and so on. you have PLENTY of opportunities to meet other kids and make friends.

I would get done with school so fast because there werent 30 other kids trying to learn from one teacher in 1 hour.

Plus all the things they are teaching in public schools now a days...it's ridiculous!

  8. Colleges most definitely accept homeschooled students!  Often, homeschooled students actually are preferred, because they are more responsible, know what they want, know how to study, know how to organize their time, set their own goals, and are used to self-directed learning.  A lot will depend on your transcript, even if your mom makes it on your home computer.  They want to see that you took at least some advanced courses and did well in them.  Another really important thing will be your ACT/SAT scores.  The third big thing is writing a good college application.

Just do a search for "homeschool" and you'll turn up more sites than you'll know what to do with.  One of my favorites is homeschooling.About.com

  9. Being homeschooled should not affect you being accepted to colleges or universities. I was accepted into community college and then university with no trouble whatsoever.

The only thing you need to do is make sure the colleges you are applying for don't have special procedures for home school students. Sometimes they need extra information from home school students - if your parents have kept good records of the classes you've taken and your grades there should be no problems.

  10. NOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO... Speaking as someone who was homeschooled their whole life it is one of the most HORRIBLE thing you can do to your child. I was sheltered from everything. Have of what I know I have learned in the five years I've been out of my house. I have extreme trouble making friends, and I hate social settings. I feel like I am was less intelligent than the normal person. Take my advice DON'T DO IT!!!!!!!
