The others have answered your second and third questions. To answer the first: It's as hard as you make it. It's not supposed to be easy. What would be the point of that? It's not supposed to be so hard you are burned out after reading one chapter and spend the rest of the day crying over your maths book. You are supposed to work at the level you are capable of, that will challenge but not kill you. You are supposed to take time out to chill once in a while. When you homeschool, you don't need to worry about grade level. If you are working below grade level in English, but above in Science and Maths, that's fine. Just make sure you keep persevering and improving on both your strong areas and your weak ones.

Well, I'm not from Washington, but I am from Canada.  I homeschooled my kids and I enjoyed it while it lasted, they're in high school now.  It's easy to get started, you need to register with a school district, and they could set you up with a curriculum, it's pretty easy.  It's not hard to follow, you actually end up having more time to yourself, as everything is self paced which means you can work ahead if you want.  It's not as restricted as "actual school".  You could even do on-line schooling if you want.  Do an internet search for on-line school and that is easy to set up as well, my kids have also done that.  You converse with the teach via e-mail on their server.  It's kinda like a classroom, only you don't have to public speak per say.  Give it a try, it looks like your steering that direction.  Best of luck to you.

How hard it is depends on the curriculum chosen.

Homeschooling is not hard to start.

Washington's laws are not that difficult, there are some states that are easier, but many are more difficult.  Washington is sort of in-between the super easy states and the difficult states.
