Is homo sapiens doomed? Not today or tomorrow, but in a few thousand years?

I'm thinking more like within the next 100 years.

In 100 years i think humans will still be running smoothly, but in a couple thousand years i think that we should have the technology just to leave this planet and start over where we wouldn't make as many mistakes.

Watch the science channel, it's pretty cool and it shows some of the future technology they're developing.

It is very possible that descendants of ours will be around billions of years from now perhaps spread all over the galaxy.

Not sure about the entire species however at the rate we are going, the United States will not be around in 100 years.  If you read history as to empires who ran the world and later fell.  We are doing the exact same things they did shortly before their fall.  A great book to read that addresses this issue is "Are We Rome"  A real eye opener!!
