Question:

Is honey flavoring in liquids safe for babies unlike raw honey?

I have been trying to find out if honey flavoring in teas and such are safe for babies under one year old. i can't find out anywhere on the internet, so if someone who knows what they are saying would let me know, That'd be great!

  1. depending on the ingredients as long as it does not contain honey, anyway, if its flavoring its probably artificial so that wouldnt be good either?


  2. If it's only flavoring I couldn't see it being a honey issue. It could be an artificial flavoring/coloring issue though. Try looking up artificial flavorings and infants. Sorry I wasn't of much help!

  3. While it may not be harmful, it is still not recommended. Health Canada recommends that you also shouldn't give an older baby (9-14 months) yogurt that has been flavoured with honey. Better safe than sorry, as honey can contain botulism spores, which could make baby extremely ill.

    *Ahh, now that I have re-read the question, it would depend on whether the flavouring is real honey or artificial. I, personally, would have just as much of a problem giving baby artificial flavourings as the honey itself, as they contain chemicals and loads of sugar. What type of tea are you looking to give baby. as many herbals can have drug like effects in small children....
