  1. Not so much.

Horses are running against each other, not viciously attacking each other until one dies.

I know many people rich and poor, black and white who love horse racing.  Give it up, there is no connection between the two.

  2. NO. dog fighting is completely inhumane, trying to make dogs fight, hurt, and kill each other. In this nasty hobby the dog is injured and abused.

The thoroughbreds that are raced are completely healthy. They are not treated cruelly or abused. The death of Eight Belles was an accident.

  3. Yes. Absoloutly. Its animal cruelty and it needs to stop.

    RIP Eight Belles :-(

  4. Yes, i can clearly see the connection. Horses are trained to attack each other. They killed all the losing horses at the Kentucky derby didn't they?

  5. That is right on the money!!! The only point to horse racing is total GREED! If you make the people betting black, Latin or poor; it would be against the law. Money and royalty make it OK. This is a messed up culture we live in. Animal abuse is animal abuse regardless of the social stature of the audience. This "sport" should be outlawed.

  6. no it is not

  7. Yes I believe it is

  8. Yes it is. It should be banned.

  9. No -- and contrary to the usual animal-rights zealots, 95% of racing is done by middle-income breeders and trainers who make little or nothing from it.  They do it because they love it, and love working with the horses.

My neighbor works two jobs to keep her horses, one of whom has been on the track.  After expenses, racing is a net loss for her, but it's what she -- and the horse -- love to do.  Anyone who thinks these horses don't WANT to run fast just hasn't ever been around one.  It's what they're bred for.

A horse who doesn't WANT to run is worthless on the track.  I raised one to race, spent a fortune on training, silks, etc., and even though she was fast as the wind, she never raced.  She simply didn't have the desire for it, and came home to become a hunter-jumper, which she DOES enjoy.

Claiming these horses don't want to do this is like claiming that Olympic champions don't really enjoy their sport.  If they didn't, they wouldn't be any good at it.

Comparing racing with dogfighting -- a truly vicious, ugly activity -- is absurd, and betrays a total ignorance of the subject.

  10. yes it is.  The video didnt catch it but everyone knows these horses are trained to trip each other and sweep the leg like in karate kid.  These horses know if they dont win its off to the glue factory so they do whatever it takes to win.  another word STFU. its an accident.  Horses are made to run.  In fact if they dont run they will die, when you run its possible to step wrong and trip and when those leg are supporting that much weight, in case you didnt know horses are pretty heavy, its possible to break a leg or whatever.  Even horse not in a race will trip or something and hurt themselves.  What are we gonna do prevent all horses from running around cause its too dangerous for them to be running??

  11. The purpose of dog fighting is for animals to attack each other. The purpose of horse racing... to see which horse can run the fastest over a given surface/distance. I don't see the connection.  These horses are well taken care of.

  12. Well of course it is.. i hate the h**l outta horse racing..so with dogs.. anyone that does that should be put under the jail..

  13. Those horses eat better than you or I.  They are treated with great respect.  Comparing horse racing to dog fighting is ridiculous and stupid.

  14. Yes it is!!!!
