  1. what kind of dumb question is that gayward sure human is a conductor of electricity!!!!******

  2. We do conduct electricity, but depending on the wetness of the contact points, we have a resistance of between about 50,000 and 100,000 ohms.  This means that we conduct current much less efficiently than metals.

Most of our body mass is water, which actually isn't a great conductor, but ionic solutions are, and the water in our bodies is electrolytic, (ionic), so that would conduct electricity very well.  This is why our nerves work so well.  The electrical impulses are conducted easily through them.  The reason our whole bodies do not conduct electricity as well, is most likely because of cell membranes, which are made up of proteins, which are poor conductors.  It's like each cell has its own little insulation layer.

To get an idea of the difference in conductivity, place leads from a 6-volt battery on opposite sides of your finger.  You will feel nothing.  Now put them on opposite sides of your tongue.  You will feel a very slight tingle.  Now use the battery in a flashlight.  The filament in the bulb is a very good conductor and allows so much electrical current that it heats up white hot.  If you had an electrical source with enough voltage to make that much current flow through your body, (about 150 to 250 milli-amps), you would blow up like a mosquito in a bug zapper.

  3. No, our bodies have a lot of water in them, but we're not very good conductors of electricity. That's why when we get struck by lightning, our flesh gets burned.

  4. Yes.  If you grab an electric fence and then grab another person the electric shock will tavel through your body and into the other fellow and give them a shock as well.   As someone else has pointed out our bodies have lots of water in them and water conducts electricity.
