  1. We haven't stopped evolving.  Too much to go into it in one answer and I figure you probably aren't interested anyway but just look at a few things that have happened in just the last 100 years (which is a tiny amount of time) population getting taller, run faster, stronger, records are broken every day.

  2. Probably or probably not. There isn't any hard evidence of evolution so it can't be a defined fact. But it can be true too, since there isn't any evidence that can disprove that. So you can say it MIGHT be a hoax. But you cannot say its a FACT YET.

  3. This question is so stupid I'm speechless. Are you a fundie, by chance?

  4. evolution doesnt take place ina day...we proably are ....evolution is gradual and would take moer than your liftime to be realized...relax

  5. The theory of evolution is no longer a theory.  Even the Vatican issued a statement a few years ago for Christians to embrace science and evolution.  Evidence is evidence.  Scientists do not have all the pieces of the puzzle, yet.  But, evolution is fact.  And, evolution is on-going for all lifeforms.

  6. ... ur mom is a hoax ... stupid questions get stupid answers... evolution takes time.

  7. BIGGEST HOAX IN THE HISTORY OF THE WORLD.

  8. To even consider that evolution is a hoax means that you either don't understand the theory of it or are as dumb as a sack of hammers or both.

If you are asking why we stopped evolving ( I can't be sure though), we haven't.

  9. Human evolution is not a hoax, but we have mostly elevated ourselves above evolution. For evolution to occur, you need to have natural selection. Natural selection means the strongest members of a species are the most likely to survive and reproduce. (strongest meaning physically, mentally, and disease resistant)

Because modern science gives almost every person the opportunity to live a long life (or at least well into their child producing years), we aren't just passing on the strongest genes anymore.

That doesn't mean evolution has completely stopped, but it has slowed to a crawl.

You also have to realize that evolution is a process that happens over thousands of generations. As I recall, the fossil record indicates modern (or Cro magnon) man first emerged about 30,000 years ago. That is a relative blink of the eye in evolution terms and only represents 1500 or so generations.

In fact, you could almost say the last major evolutionary step for humans was when the Cro magnon man survived while the Neanderthal died out. Scientists don't know exactly why the Neanderthals died out, but it could have been the Cro magnon man were just smarter and made better use of their resources. And it's also possible Cro magnon and Neanderthal mixed and so what we are today is some combination of the two.

  10. we have been sidetracked with Vanity.

  11. No, evolution is still going on.  no physical evolution, indivitual evolution. Have you heard of enlightened masters. They are the next and last and final step in all evolution. Paramahamsa Nithyananda is one. And by seeing him you can tell he is not an ordinary person.

    thank you

  12. Evolution takes thousands upon thousands of years.  Human evolution is not a hoax.  It's a science.

  13. the theory of human evolution is that, a certain member of a species has a mutation, and if it's a mutation that gives it and advantage above all the other members of the species, it will live, and breed more, and pass that trait onto later generations of the species, so basically survival of the fittest

also, it takes millions of years to see just a little difference.

and the way things are going today, where the rule in nature "survival of the fittest" isn't applied in the human world, and all types of humans are breeding, the strong and the weak, there probably wont be a major change for a long time, because if we were still creatures of nature, we wouldn't be surrounded by people who are weaker than the average, and the stronger would lead the way, but nowadays, even the weaker genes are being breeded, and they are all being mixed in with the strong genes and such

but thats just the animalistic way to look at it

but check back in about 5 million years and see whatsup

  14. It would be quite hard to make a hoax of that magnitude.

No, it is not a hoax. I see this kind of question almost every time I go into the Anthropology section. We are still evolving. It is a long process, but there are a number of evolutionists that do a fine job of communicating the evolution theory to other people. One member of a species does not give birth to another immediately. Evolution is something that happens as a result of continuous mutation and adaptation over many thousands of generations. We are indeed still evolving.

FW: Now, don't be rude of course he is a fundamentalist, but that does not make him an idiot as your language infers, his grammar does.

  15. its not a hoax. it just takes a really long time before it happens. like thousands and thousands of years... i wonder when we will evolve like the ones in HEROES?

  16. I can suggest a couple of additional questions with the reasoning you portray.

If horses can fly, why don't they have wangs?

Iffin we camed from monkeys why is they no monleys at the Harvard?

If creationism is a hoax why wasn't Jerry Falwell a monkey?

If Pat Robinson actually has a brain...where did he leave it and does it get all dirty when he takes it out?

  17. It's not and we haven't. Evolution is about adaptation in response to the environment (not progress in any particular direction), so it's going to continue whether you like it or not. That is, unless we create so many toxins we sterilize ourselves and the rest of earth's creatures out of existence...

    BTW, Jim D,

Horses do have wangs, there are plenty of monkeys at Harvard (probably in labs being tortured) and Jerry Falwell is more likely to be a baboon than a monkey, considering the amount of c**p he flings. Re: Pat Robinson, no, he has no brain - just a head full of straw.

  18. Evolution occurs over generations. Before any noticable difference is apparent, multiple generations need to have passed. This can be up to 1000 generations. This is a fantastic timescale in human terms, but a mere blinking of an eye in geological terms; and it is this time frame that evolution becomes apparent.

May I suggest you actually read the book by Charles Darwin called "The Origin of Species by Means of Natural Selection"  available online at http://www.talkorigins.org/faqs/origin.h...

  19. i do wonder why we have come on so far, creating nano-technology,sending spacecraft to mars, etc, while our nearest'relatives' are still living in trees.

  20. who says we have stopped evolving?

  21. what makes you think we've stopped evolving? its takes hundreds of thousands of years to change genetically.
