I mean is Humans are apparently the only species that manifests greed(wanting more than what U need) in a real strong way ,but all other species just seek out what they need(food, shelter)!

  1. In my humble opinion greed is the root of environmental pollution.  The more people have the more they seem to want not just physical items but also power and status.  If you look at the types of pollution during the bronze age there was relatively little and it was biodegradable and non-toxic for the most part.  In the iron age air pollution was the most evident.  Industrial revolution produced rampant water and land pollution.  Big industries seem to contribute more to this than individuals.

  2. If you look at it from a societal point of view you will see that it is the most affluent societies that are the most proactive about cleaning up there environments, while the poorest do the most physical damage.

When you're wealthy (or at least stable) you can focus on things like the environment, but when you're struggling from meal to meal the environment is very low on the list of priorities.
