Is hummus a healthy food?

I had hummus on pita bread, and low-fat milk for dinner. Just wondering if this was healthy or not?

  1. Very healthy! Hummus is very healthy and is a good protein, while the olive oil and tahini (sesame paste) are good fats that boost mood. I LOVE hummus!!

  3. healthy yes good i mean not aton of protein but it has some its kinda fatty but i mean good fats which u need i wouldnt rely on it as ur main protein source though u should add some meat or something like even just 2oz of fresh chicken but it is a healthy and low calorie snack be a meal with some veges and a bit of meat :) hope that answers it

  4. Yes actually.  Hummus is traditionally made with garbanzo beans (chickpeas), so its high fiber, low fat.

  5. yes .... chick peas (garbanzo beans) are a very good source of protein, and also help lower cholesterol.  If there's any oil in the hummus, it would be olive oil, which is also very healthy....  You needed a veggie though, so next time have some cucumbers with it

  6. You could use some fresh veggies with your meal.

    You can make a simple salad like this:

    Fresh plum tomatoes, seeded and chopped

    Sliced cucumbers

    Season to taste with salt, dill, mint and garlic

    Toss with a sweetened lemon juice and olive oil dressing

    In place of the milk you could sprinkle feta cheese on top of the salad. It's delish either way.
