Is hunting deer with a bow and arrow humane?

Question

in one way i think "well it gives the prey more of a chance"

but i also think, it's cruel because wouldn't it have greater chance of wounded but not killing the animal, so causing suffering?

(i'm not a hunter, i just wondered.)
