  1. harder

  2. what do u mean by ice dancing, if your thinking fancy foot work kind of thing its alot harder if your thinking more a skating show like disney on ice....easier

  3. Ice skating is harder because its ice and naturally its slippery so its very difficult to keep your balance and not fall on your face. Plus it is really hard and cold. So when you go home you'll probably have bruises.

  4. Should be easier seeing as you have to manipulate your feet more in figure skating and have balance.

  5. Figure skating (ie precision) require skating various figures (8's, on different edges of the blades).  It's a pre-requisite for ice dancing, which is a series of edges and curves in time to music with a partner.

Freeskating (jumps, spins) etc, is more difficult than ice dancing, and harder on the knees.

Pairs freeskating is probably the hardest - jumps, spins, in sync with a partner.

  6. As someone who has done only freestyle for many many years and is now trying to pick up dance, I think dance is very hard.  Ice dance is very very technical, whereas you can sometimes hide some of that in freestyle.  In ice dance, you have to be on the correct edges and now pay attention to every edge and push because you have a partner with you.....and both of you have to be on beat with the music! One s***w up on your end could send you both into a pile.  Going from freestyle to dance, there is a lot that has to be re-learned.  Posture is different, pushing is different....even pointing your toe or flexing your toe is different.  While you may not be jumping and spinning, you still sure get a work out dancing.  I find other muscles that aren't usually sore from jumping and spinning are sore after doing a few dances.  While I do think it's hard, it still is a lot of fun.  I've only done 2 dances, but I really enjoy it.  I think it has also helped my Moves In the Field and freestyle.  :)

  7. In regular freestyle figure skating you sometimes have to do hard jumps, difficult spins, and fancy footwork and in ice dancing you also have to do fancy footwork but with a partner. Honestly it depends on your experiences with them. As for me i think regular ice skating is harder.

  8. I think ice dancing is WAY more difficult than regular figure skating. I base this on the fact that it took me 5 years to pass the gold freestyle test, 7 years to pass the gold figure test and 12 years to pass the gold dance test. Do the math, an additional FIVE years when all I was working on was dance. That whole partner thing adds a whole world of difficulty to it. You have two addition feet to trip over.

  9. i honestly don't know how hard ice dancing is because Ive never done it, but i don't think its a simple answer of whether or not its harder or easier. it depends on the individual skater and the couple. if all you have done is freestyle then yeah its gonna be harder but if all you have done is ice dancing then it would be easier. you really have to look at the pros and cons of both. decide which one you like more and also which one you like more and feel more comfortable with.

  10. What's the difference, really?

  11. i would think it was harder on your body because ice is so hard
