  2. Heaven is right here, right now, not later...

Neanderthals are no longer here, now!

  3. It is thought that they buried their dead in ceremony.  If that is so, they like us had hope for an afterlife.  Maybe, it is that hope that gives us an afterlife.

  4. Are you trying to ask if Neanderthals had souls?

    An interesting question, I think.

Well, I believe that all living creatures are "alive" because of being filled with energy or "Life Force" that is eternal in nature. The energy that inhabits animals, particularly wild animals, is more impersonal in nature than the specific consciousnesses that incarnate in human form.

But Neandethals were really quite human in nature, seeing as that they had social groups, families, some kind of communication, tools, and possibly sewing, trading, beliefs, rituals, and even music and art. They buried their dead, and in some instances they buried them with tools and other objects, so we can presume they had some notion of an afterlife. One can imagine that they saw themselves as individuals, had reasonably complex thoughts, had much more of an intellectual life and sense of self than say a dog, which is basically always focused in the present and doesn't "think about things" the way we do...

But really, I think it doesn't matter how "smart" they were... If a profoundly mentally retarded human has a soul then arguably a Neanderthal did too.

So, as I believe in reincarnation, I believe that the souls that inhabited Neanderthals have since reincarnated many times. I'm not too sure how it works, but I can imagine that souls have been growing and becoming more complex and "evolved" as physical humans and human culture and society have done so.

For me the bottom line is that, I believe that all energy and consciousness is eternal, so the energy and consciousness that once inhabited Neanderthals is indeed "somewhere", though exactly "where" I cannot say, but perhaps more importantly, since ultimately we are all One, that energy and consciousness is part of All-that-Is, and so it is part of all we have been, all we are, and all we ever will be.

I don't know about you, but that's plenty enough "Heaven" for me. :)
