Is india still a low wage country?

  1. Actually you cant really count it a low wage counrty when people earn in lots of lakhs and thousands.Im not sure if you know but their was a IPO last week where people invest in shares.It crossed 200 biliion dollars in US currency.What do you say.It was all indians who invested in it


  2. It used to be a low wage country.  But cost of living was also low those days.  Now things have changed. Indian professionals like PIlots, Aviation Engineers, IT professionals are all earning a very good amount well comparable by industry standards all over the world.  A  lot of foreigners are working in India now knowing well that the cost of living compared to their countries is low here and thereby they can earn and save more money.

  3. In Tamil Nadu wages have more than doubled for laborers in the last two years, not to say of the demand in high tech industries. We have to get laborers from places as far as Bihar and Orissa

  4. The indian economy is booming....2007 was a specifically a gr8 year for India.....the population of high income group is increasing...but still there is a huge gap in income....the survival of the low income group is becoming tougher and tougher....

  5. Yes .That's why many corporate companies are outsourcing to India ....because its cheaper than local labour

  7. Yes the wages have increased in last couple of years. especially after the report of fifth pay commission and rise of call centres.

    But there r lot of poor ppl in India.
