  1. no

  2. The firm I work at does a lot of industrial engineering. Although I am a civil engineer, I still do a lot of work on project site plans for our industrial clientele. As of right now the market for industrial applications is growing. However, it follows a cyclical pattern. It has a lot to do with location also.

  3. Of course it is - especially if you enjoy; designing facility layouts, supporting all aspects of maintaining a facility, working with people, sitting at a desk no more than 4 hours a day because you need to be interacting with the facility and maintenance / production crews, documenting workforce objectives, facilitating different engineering disciplines (working with Chemical / Mechanical / Electrical / Process / IT Engineers), administrating and documenting health and safety (plant facilities) objectives, developing and implementing facility standards, working with outside contractors / vendors to help support facility and all its processes, and not to mention the vast wealth of knowledge and experience you will accumulate from working with all of these folks that will inevitably lead you to upper management  of the plant facility itself.  Overall a very gratifying career and more so, a humbling experience.  Yea - it's a pretty good choice.

  4. I've heard its very good, engineers make a lot of money.
