  3. in my opinion it is but at the same time it is not.

  4. It is all in the way it is managed.  If you have pollution, dangerous and abusive working conditions, waste of resources then it may not be. Industrial management has gone thru many changes and is under a microscope in hopes of making it better. Industrialism started in Europe but Americans led the way towards improvement (Ford, Whitney, Demings). The Japanese are the modern leaders.  Improvements are benefical to society and firm's profitability.
