Is insurance higher while hiring a car in Germany if you were disqualified for drink driving in the UK?

thx for ansers so far.....ban ended april 2007 but insurance might go up because of any previous spent ban

  1. do you hold a licence? if so,  you do have to make them aware of previous convictions etc on your licence.


  2. Your not allowed to drive a car even if its hired on german roads without a valid driving lisence.

    If you were disqualified for drink driving in the uk means you havent got a valid driving lisence.

    Got nothing to do with the insurance they just wont give you a car simple as that.

  3. i hired a car in Austria a few years back and did not have my licence "for crying out loud the yanks have changed the word to license now" with me..all they wanted was my hotel  booking and name,Addy etc...guess they contacted DVL and see that i was legit ...think it would show if you had current convictions and also i think a ban will apply in Germany too

    It depends when it happened. I looked at a few websites and nothing ws mentioned - so it should be OK.

    But you need a current driving license
