I've been hearing alot about insurance and whatnot being very expensive for teenagers. Motorcycles cost around $5000, and around $700 a year for insurance? Is insurance really necessary?

  1. Assuming you live in the USA, it's mandatory.  Insurance is also for 'your' protection.

  2. Liability is mandatory, in all states except WI and NH.

If you pay cash for your bike, the liability is pretty cheap.  If you borrow money for it, thouhgh, you have to have full coverage, and the collision on a motorcycle, for a young rider, is astronomical.

  3. ~~In California you must carry at least liability insurance to be able to operate it on the street.~~

  4. It depends on what state you live in.

As to whether it's necessary -- ask yourself how you'd pay for a new motorcycle and how you'd cover all your medical bills if you were in an accident and uninsured.

  5. YOu are not the only one,I have met this type of  problem before.I have good experience here to solve the problem though.http://insurance.online-frees.info/insur...

  6. Depends what state your in.  Some states do not require it.  Call lyour local DMV.

Remember, it is illegal to have modified exhaust systems (illegal mufflers) which are the ones without an EPA stamp on it.

  7. Check with you state's DMV. Most states require liability  insurance for driving a car or motorcycle on public roads.

You may not need comp and collision.

Sure insurance can be very expensive  for teenagers. Teenagers have more accidents than other age groups, so they get charged more.

  8. Yes.  The cost of the motorcycle is not important.  What is important is the tens to hundreds of thousands of dollars for which motorcyclists can be sued for injuring others or damaging cars.
