  1. I've only read when I'm in the 4th Grade, Iodine can only used in curing goiters. So it is used in treating thyroid ailments.

  2. Iodine 131 decays with a half-life of 8.0197 days with beta and gamma emissions.

Barium-137 (an intermediate stage in Caesium 137 decay) has a half-life of 2.55 minutes and produces gamma ray emission.

These half lives show that Iodine 131 is more stable than Barium 137

A half life is the time taken for half the quantity of an isotope to decay to its next stage.
