Is it ethical to put a value on say clean air? Biodiversity? The reason I ask is because I am trying to do a cost-benefit analysis, I have do discuss what I do and the ethics of it. So I ask, is it ethical for me to put a figure on clean air and measure that against say how much profit I could make?

  1. It's certainly ethical if you treat it as a floor.

For instance, the amount that people would be willing to pay for clean air is a minimum of its true value.

  2. well it is done with human life so why not.

putting a value on earth system services currently seen as 'free' is very important.

  3. no it isnt.

It is because of all sorts of "measurements" of the profit, money, nature resources,  efficency and alike that the nature is spoiled in the first place. It really doesnt get any simplerer than that...
