Question:

Is is possible for a person to lose 20lbs a month?

they say that an average person can loose at least 5lbs a week?

and there's 4 weeks in month. With hard work an dedication do you think i can loose the weight?I'm 15, 5'2 and I'm not saying my exact weight but its between 170-215lbs.

please don't criticize me about my weight or what not, its yahoo answers.

  1. Only for a finite number of months.


  2. When you are really overweight it is real easy to lose the first 20lbs or so. Your body has excess water and is kind of in shock to the added exercise and what not. You will then slow down a bit and start losing 1 to 2 pounds a week and that is the healthy number. So yes you may be able to lose 20 pounds the first month but every month thereafter will not be the same. Some weeks you may lose 3lbs and others you may not lose any or even gain some. I would look at having your body fat count measured and really worry about that percentage then your weight in pounds. As you work out more and more you will gain muscle and we all know muscle is heavier the fat, but your body fat will go down.

  3. Eat health and exercise (this is my advice to you), I know I don't like it either. But you didn't gain it that quick so don't expect to lose it and keep it off. But it is possible, I've been down that road...time, and time again. Like I said, not expect it to stay off. Besides nothing wrong with a women with curves :D

  4. If you want to lose weight efficiently do cardiovascular exercises at least 30 minutes a day such as jogging. You can increase the intensity of your workout to burn more.

    Also watch your calorie intake. Drink lots of water especially when you think you're hungry but you're really not.

  8. I dont think there is a miracle way to loose it, but excerise for at least 30 minutes a day. Something aerobic like running, or speed skip rope that burns off calories. To tone up muscle do some pilaties or other strength excersises.

    Eat healthy. (My problem is too much pop) But try to eat more veggies and fruits and stay away from really fatty foods, and fast foods.

    Drink alot of water. If you dont like water (i dont, bleh) try buying Neste packets. (Only 5 calories in each packet) You can get like 6 packets in one box for $2. Iv never tried Crystal Lite, but the WildBerry and Tangerine in the Neste brand are actually pretty tasty. Drinking a glass of water before you eat a meal will also fill you up so you dont eat more then you need to.

    Be weary of juices. Some are good for you, but most are llloaded with sugar. Check out the nutrition label to see how much is there. Alot of juices are also high in natural sugars so try to steer towards something like apple juice.

    Eat celery! Celery is hard for the body to digest, and if you have a stick or 2 after your meal, or before going to bed, your stomache is going to have to keep working which will help you burn some extra calories.

    Try to stay away from resturants. Even if the food isnt that unhealthy, resturant size plates are huge. Dont try to eat the whole thing. Resturant plates are oversized to try and fit more food, but the best thing is to only eat half and then take the rest home for lunch tomorrow!

    And lastly

    Love Your Body! No body is perfect, and you need to foster a since or pride in yourself. You are beautiful no matter what the scale says. The important thing, is to be healthy.

    if u keep that up imagine how much u''ll lose in 2 months? or even 3? soon you'll be the right weight and u can be happy and comfortable and even have fun at the beach!

  11. Its possible, But losing it fast isn't the point. Its the lifestyle, Unless your trying to cut weight for a fight.
