  2. Yes - but your odds are really low.  People with perfect grades and SAT's - not just a 4.8 and 1800 - get rejected all the time.  You may love Stanford - but so do tons of others - or at least want to go there.  It is not random - they pick the best students from those that apply.  It just that tons of students even better than you also apply.

    Thanks

  3. how do you have a 4.8 gpa?

  4. You have an awesome gpa, and obviously you've taken a lot of AP & honors classes in order for it to be that weighted, so you definitely have that going for you. Your SAT score is very low in comparison to the average, but I don't know that it automatically rules you out. You should definitely retake it ASAP. I was so unhappy with my 1st score, but I seriously rocked it the 2nd time. Nerves can do a number on you.

You teacher recs, extracurriculars & essays are incredibly important. My recruiter said that uniqueness - a rare or extraordinary talent, leadership like being the editor of the newspaper or student body pres, being a star athlete or the like is what they really look for in an applicant. This yr was the toughest in history - 25,000 people applied & less than 2500 were admitted, and you have to find a way to make yourself stand out. If you are a painter, dancer, musician really consider submitting the art supplement application. The live auditions are in October.

The application is now live, so you can start working on it.

I do think part of is luck, though. I'm applying in the fall & I hope I get lucky because I LOVE STANFORD too.

    Good luck to you!
