  1. You can socialize a wolf pup to human contact, but you can never domesticate it in one generation. Domestication is more on the lines of an evolutionary process that would modify the wolves natural behavior of fear/flight. The dog is the result of several generations of the domestication process. At the International Wolf Center, we obtain captive bred wolf pups at the age of about 12 day and begin an intense socialization process of human contact. This is done so the we can perform daily wolf care for the duration of the wolf's life, but these socialized wolves can never be considered "tame" or domesticated.

  2. Yes I have 5 that I have personally trained. While hiking one summer I stumbled upon a den of wolf pups. Their mother quickly showed up, but later that night while she was sleeping I crept up to the pups and carefully placed each into a burlap sack. Once I got home I started the process of raising them as my own. Now I have 5 fully grown wolves that follow me wherever I go. You'd be surprised how nice people are to you when they see 5 wolves walking next to you. In fact the other day I got skipped in line at the DMV so I sent my wolves on the a@#hole and they ripped him a new one.....so yes...

  3. Yes.  Wolves can be domesticated.  That's how domestic dogs came about.

  4. No.  There has never been a wolf domesticated.  Wolfs are not the only ancestors of todays dogs.  Most the breeds of dogs in existance today came from wild dogs found is Asia and Africa.  There is a new theory begin to take shape that proposes dogs may have evolved twice and possibly from two different ancestors.  Not only that, but it appears dogs evolved with humans, not that humans domesticate wild dogs.

  5. Yes, but it will always retain its wild instincts, and may be unpredictable as an adult. The grey wolf is the ancestor of the domestic dog - the two are still so close genetically that they are able to breed and produce fertile offspring - but you must remember that dogs have been domesticated, and selectively bred, for thousands of generations. Even in this case you can never completely trust them - just look how many people are killed by dogs every year. Wild animals of any kind should not be kept as pets, it is playing with fire.
