Would a person need permission from relatives to get a copy of a birth certificate for a member of their family if that person is not related to you?

  1. You have to pay a fee, but there is a restriction on some records, for example children.  You have to prove you are a close relative of the subject before you can get a copy of their birth certificate.

  2. Ask the person first for permission to obtain their birth certificate.

  3. You can get birth, marriage and death certs for anyone.

The cost is 7GBP from the relevant registrars office where the event took place.

  4. If you are in the UK you can get a birth certificate for absolutely anyone, just find out what district they were born in and apply to the registrar with a small fee usually around £10 and they send one out. Dont matter who the h**l it is! Thats the thing about the UK, nobody is safe.

  5. I'd assume that you'd need the person to get it themselves, unless you were a guardian of that person and they were still a child.

When I went to get a copy of mine, I had to bring several proofs of identity and fill in information which most wouldn't know (i.e. mothers maiden name, etc). I assume this is because birth certificates can be used as proof of identity along with other things. This is in the UK so it may not apply to other places.

  6. as the other person says u can get one from the register office of the district they were born in u do have to fill out a form tho giving yr details etc.
