Does the blue line stop right in front of the terminal.

On the blue line is luggage allowed? What is the cost. And is it very busy at that time of the night.

  1. I usually take the blue line everyday to get to and from school, so I know much about it. Luggage is allowed on all CTA trains. There is no assigned area for people with luggage, you put your luggage right next to where you are sitting or even on the seats. You just go to the card vending machine at the station and buy a $2 card to get you all the way to O'Hare. The trains usually take about 20 minutes since it's late, and the trains are usually empty at that time. Just try to ride in the first car, since it drops you off right next to the exit at the O'Hare station. Once you exit the train station, you are in the airport after a little walking. The ride should be about 45 minutes. Best of luck and email me any more questions if you need help through my profile!

  2. It actually stops inside the Terminal..you debark the Train than go up an escalator and continue on another escalator than go up and you are at your airline of choice.  Its 2 bucks.  No its not busy at that time of night and you should have lots of room for any luggage you are bringing.

Of all the Lines that run in Chicago the Blue Line is by far the safest with the least amount of incidents.

  3. The Blue line to O'hare is only two dollars and you can bring as much as you want on the blue line. Around that time there will be some people on the Blue Line but you should be able to get a seat.

As for is it safe, depends. CTA personal have been mugged and raped and you will most likely ride in a car with a black bum sleeping on the seats. Or you will have a black homeless man come on and give the entire cart a long story, ignore him like everyone else and note any money given will go to the boos you most likely smell on him.

If the case your in a cart with a smelly homeless guy sleeping, move to the next one, its a simple process.

The CTA runs at all times of the night and believe me it is a nice cheap way to ride. From Clintion you might be looking at a 45 minute train ride but you'd might like it. Nice view.

As always you should bring protection going anywhere. Remember the Supreme Court upheld the 2nd admendment and says gun bans are in fact illegal don't let King Daley scare you because believe me his troops are slow to respond when a crazied crack head on the L gets pissed at you.

  5. If you are purchasing your fare from a vending machine (which you must do to ride the el/subway, unless you have a Chicago Card), a one-way ride will cost you $2.

The Blue Line does NOT stop in front of Union Station. The nearest Blue Line stop is about three blocks south on Clinton to the Clinton Blue Line station. If you prefer, you could also walk (or take a cab, if you're nervous or if your items are unwieldy) six blocks east to the Jackson Blue Line station.

Yes, you can bring your bags with you on the el. If your car is crowded, please be sure to park your bags in the aisle or in a corner so it is not taking a seat a person could use. There is no extra cost for your luggage.

I am a twentysomething woman and often ride this branch (about every other day) of the Blue Line at exactly the time range you mention. I have always felt safe, and there are always other people riding. It's not creepily deserted, in other words. In fact, it might be very crowded on weekends, especially during these summer/warm months.

As another poster noted, the Blue Line goes right into O'Hare. After disembarking, simply follow the signs to find the appropriate check-in, then your terminal. Be sure to allow time for this. O'Hare is huge, so you want to make sure you have time to find where you need to go and time to get lost (should that happen!) so you are on time for your flight.

No, there is no assigned seating area on the el for people with luggage. I recommend you seat yourself in a far corner, however. There is sometimes more space by the corner seats (in certain el cars) for large items such as luggage. You won't have to worry about disembarking quickly at the O'Hare stop because the trains stand there a long time (it's the end of the line). So sitting at a far corner would likely be best.

  6. Well the location you will be departing and arriving to are pretty safe. The Blue line stops right in O'Hare. Luggage is allowed on the train. The cost for 1-way is $2. You should buy a bus pass though because you can't pay cash at the stations. The bus passes can cost anything starting at $5.There is no assigned area for people with luggage. You can board on the train wherever you want and sit wherever you please.
