Hi...The reality is that the popular answer you have gotten is not necessarily the correct answer...First, we have to know why the gap is there and then where the gap is located...One of the most seen "gaps" is between the two front center teeth (Centrals) and closing that gap may possibly require a surgical procedure. You see, there is a tiny ligament that can and often does grow and attach between the two center front teeth and that little ligament will keep the teeth apart even if you try to close it with braces...The proper procedure is to surgically reposition the ligaments attachment above the two front teeth, then the gap can be closed and it will stay closed. safe? sure. smart? probably not.

to fix gaps in your teeth the only real resolution is to get braces. they put bands in your mouth too, but they're hooked on to the metal bracket things on your teeth and that closes the gap. plus, they do it in a way that makes sure that it works.

I would see an orthodontist.  This could possibly loosen your teeth and affect the roots.

Gaps are not that bad, Madonna and Lauren Hutton have dramatic ones.....try to get some self confidence  and learn to like your looks they way they are.  You are probably not bad.

That will just cause your other teeth to seperate! Then you will have to smaller gaps. You need to see an orthodontist and get braces!

Yes but it will not move them forward or backward so if your teeth aren't perfectly aligned, it still won't fix your problem. If you're just wanting to close a gap though, go for it.
