  1. I don't know the laws in France, but laws like those usually revolve around fire codes. They want to be able to get everyone out of the building if it burns down!

Remember that night club that caught on fire not too long ago? A lot of people died trampling over each other because the occupancy restrictions had been exceeded. There were not enough exit routes for all the people inside to escape quickly. So, although the codes/laws seem silly, they do have a purpose.

I would check with the specific hotel you plan on staying in. Often, they'll overlook an extra person, but if you try to head up to your room with a whole baseball team, they'll likely stop you.

  2. never heard of that law !

I remember staying in a hotel room with 4 of my friends...th room was crowded but we had fun :)

  3. There is no such law.

  4. depending on the hotel your staying in, you can alone, 2, 3, 4, ....

We have a lot of useless laws, but no one like that
