In other words, they do not want tourists from non-dog-eating countries to be alarmed. I read this in the local paper here in Vancouver, but wasn't sure if it was a joke.

  1. They boil intelligent animals,,, alive, they think adrenalin makes them tasty, and their government does nothing about it..

  2. oh no! I wanted to try dogs when I visit China!

seriously though... if they were bred to be eaten why not... I'm an animal lover... I have 2 aquariums with many beautiful fish, 1 dog 1 rabbit and I love them all... but that doesn't stop me from eating fish. rabbit meats are pretty common in US... some Europeans eat horses... so why can't we eat dogs if they were bred to be eaten?

  3. True story.

To put it into context, very few restaurants serve dog meat anyway. To go one step further, typically Chinese believe (wrongly) that dog meat "warmth" the body and therefore for them it's winter food.

That's opposite to Koreans, which believe (wrongly) that dog meat "cools" the body and therefore for them it's summer food.

Dog meat in China is much less common then most people think, you need to really look for it if you want to find it.

PS: you will never find dog meat in Muslim places. Dog is considered very unclean and on a similar level then pigs.

  4. Yes, it's true.  However, dog dishes will be back on the menu once the Olympics is over and done with.  The same goes for dirty toilets, pollution, spitting, etc.   The foreigners will not be allowed (if the Chinese Government can prevent it) to see such thing during the Olympics.

  5. No, it's true.  They don't want to offend those from other countries who don't eat dog.  It's all to keep business and keep the waves smooth.   I'm sure they'll revert back to it after the Olympics are done.

  6. Its probably off the menu... but I bet you its still out the back-of-house and still makes it to the plate... just under the name "pork" or "beef"..hahaha.

  7. it is what I heard.

  8. Yes its true its sucks, I was having dinner with a friend of mine and her mother, and the dog was off the menu...

What made it worse was the place was a Xinjing Muslim place and they didn't even have pork either...
