  1. yes

  2. The current age is 17 (16 if on the higher disability benefit), you can apply for your provisional license a few months before you turn 17.

It is not true that the age is turning to 18 this year, see source below.

  3. It's 17 before you can LEARN to drive.  You will need a provisional licence, have to pass a theory test and after passing that, have two years to pass your practical test.

  4. yes you can get your provisional license (learners) at 17 and you can pass your test also

i have my provisional but havent started to learn

    good luck

  5. I understand under new rules that are being introduced in the UK around now will mean that you can apply for a provisional licence at 17 years old but you cannot take your test until you are 18 years old, during the the first year you do your driver training during which time you must do a minimum number of hours training with a licenced professional instructor, intensive driver training courses will be stopped and the cost of the test is going to be increased by a large amount.

This apparently is being introduced to try to reduce the high number of accidents and deaths caused by new young inexperienced drivers.

This is not a joke, this was being discused on the radio today with a Government spokesman.

  6. At the you can be 17 to start learning to drive a car, but at  some point they want to push it up to 18.

  7. I'm sure it is 17.

  8. the age is going up to 25 from next april, anyone under 25 holding a lisense will no longer be able to drive. free local bus tickets will be given to those people until they are elligible to re sit the driving test when they turn 25.

if you dont beleive me check out this government information site www.drivewhen25.gov

  9. 17 in the U.K

But as said you will need to pass a theory and practical test before you're allowed on the road on your own without a qualified driver over 21.

Plus the number of points before disqualification is less for new drivers.

  10. 18

  11. Yes.... it's 17.

  12. Yes but you might be able to start learning a few months before.

  13. at 17 you can get a provisional license and can drive with a 21 year old who has 3+ years driving experience, as long as you've got L plates and are insured on the car. You can take your test for a full license as soon as you're 17, but have to do the theory test first.
