Question:

Is it 'normal' to dream in detailed 'stories', like a movie?

When I go into a deep sleep, I sometimes have long detailed dreams that involve an evolving story line, many different characters and my self of course. The role I usually take is myself but differ in strengths, weaknesses and places. Some dreams are in places I've never been to, but most are based on past places I've been to. I dream in full color and it's kind of like watching a TV show from my perspective.

I've never shared this before and just wondered if this is normal as it's happening more and more recently.

  1. It's not typical.  I remember hardly anything and I certainly don't dream in Technicolour.  I think that you are one of a lucky few.  Or it seems lucky to me.  Perhaps you don't see it that way--especially when your dreams are bad ones.  Enjoy you dream.  Your experiences are not unique.

  2. Yeah, sounds normal to me.  Dreams are just your subconscious letting loose and dealing with things.  Some people dream like that, some dream in black and white, some remember more dreams that others.

Typically people have several dreams a night, and while the ones they remember seem to last a long time in reality the dream state is usually pretty short for each dream.

  3. i've actually experienced that. i think it's normal to dream of anything.

  4. Wow, I've never heard of anyone having this! Which is great because I thought I was weird. One of my favourite dreams I wasn't even a part of it, but watching it. Actually, at one point the dream turned for me and I saw myself on a wooden chair watching a projection screen before it returned to the dream. Kind of creepy, but I really like that one.

  5. you just lay there and think sometimes before you go to sleep your stuck in a stance because your mind won't let you get over the rim you have to clear your mind and relax
