Is it DEPRESSION ????

my cusion always tells me he is depressed .. he told me he thought he thinks about dieing and always sad and careless..he has diabetes and i thought maybe thatys why he is feeling that way..

my question do you think its because he has diabetes... i think so cuz he had it since last year and he hasnt been the same.

  1. Was he ever like this before  he was diagnosed with Diabetes?

    People can be at a greater risk of depression if there is an illness to deal with.Check out this website for more info. on diabetes and depression

  2. Often people who develop medical problems, especially long term ones will become depressed.

    Suffering ill health can make a person more aware of their mortality. Which then leads to bouts of depression. Not all people experience depression but many do.

    You may want to see if he will talk with his Dr. about this and get some help.  

  3. I think he might be going through a hard time, there is a strong possibility that he does have some sort of depression  

  4. Yes it is depression and he should consult a psychiatrist for proper medication and not discontinue the medicine till the doctor says so.Many people after some time think they are cured and stop taking pills with the result that there is a relapse and they have to start again.

  5. It could be depression or he is trying for some attention. Has he talked to anyone else about this?When ever he says things like this try talking to him and asking why he feels this way.Also refer him to somebody that can help him.

  6. Sounds like depression, and the fact that he recognizes it is GOOD! Please encourage him to seek help, someone to talk to. Could be a counsel, doctor, Rabbi/priest, teacher... If this has been going on for some time, please, please help out by encouraging that he seek help. Life it too short to be depressed.

    Oh yes, being ill can cause depression... if that turns out to be the cause, counseling is still helpful. He may just need to come to terms with his illness, just a thought.
