Is it Happy Teacher's Day or Teachers' Day ?

I have asked many in singapore whether it is 's' apostrophe or apostrophe 's'. Many said 's' apostrophe though i think it is apostrophe 's'. Can anyone help ?

  1. hello lowgate you are correct it is with the apostrophe"s".

    Happy Teacher's Day and when you refer to all as in a group you write

            "Teachers" because you are refering to more than one (plural)

    example: Teachers touch hearts and open minds.

  2. I'd say Teachers' Day because it is celebrating all teachers, so teacher needs to be plural, and also it needs to be possessive because it is a day that belongs to teachers.  That's why the apostrophe goes on the outside.  

    UNLESS....in Singapore the holiday really only celebrates one teacher and everyone seems to know who that teacher is so they don't use his/her name.  In that case, it would be Teacher's Day.  :-)

  3. Its Teachers' Day as it is meant for all the teachers. If you have to show the possesion for the plural it is always like this. Another example is Boys' College or Girls' College.
