Is it Islamic to burn bunch of incense sticks and place near a Mayyath(dead body)

Question

..I have seen it whenever I go to a house where somebody passed away.

Is it customory to do so?Do Muslima all over the world practise this?Does people of other faith do this?

well to remove bad scent we can use perfume (bunch of stick is only custom ,at that time they did not have perfume or was expensive) allah knows best

I don't think it is prohibited, it was not a custom during prophets time as there are many people gathered some fragrance is good.

It is neither for benefit of dead body here or hereafter.

While wrapping dead body some fragrance are used.

yes it is customary.

some people of other faith does this, and it has no benefit or blessings.  in fact copying the other religion or unislaamic customs is innovation and shouldn't be practiced... and the way some people follow this tradition can infact be innovation, so its good to be cautious about it.

Its not Islamic. Its a Biddah. Prophet Mohammad PBUH never used to do it. Plus, deads can not smell incense sticks, so why should we do?

It has more to do with culture than Islam sister.

I've seen incense sticks being used only in South Asia but in the Middle East and the South East, Muslims have their own unique customs.
