Question:

Is it Kurt or Penske?

14 wins in his first 5 full seasons. Only 4 in the last three years. The 2004 champ, bust since signing with Penske, he has not even been considered as a threat for the cup. I will come out and say it.... I am a Kurt Busch fan, and I don't think he forgot how to drive. I am leaning toward the owner. What do you think? All the attention has been on Kyle, but what if Kurt took over the 20 car? Now that would be some sibling vivalry!

  1. I believe that it's a combination of driver, crew chief, pit crew, Penske's equipment and just plain old BAD LUCK!

Kurt is a good driver and yes he has a Championship and hopefully he will in time get another, he has not forgotten how to drive..it's what he has to work with and so far Penske just has not hit the mark on their cars this year..Newman leaving  and I really believe that Kurt will soon be out the door as soon as he can!

As for comparing Kurt and Kyle..it's like apples and grapefruit..brothers, yes..different driving styles, better equipment ..as for the 20, that would be a show and tell..but sorry Logono already has that ride

  2. It's obviously Penske's fault, their equipment isn't up to race-winning standards.. Kurt is a former champion, he hasn't forgot how to win. Look at Ryan Newman, he know's how to win, he can't contend every week to win and he's moving on, expect Kurt to do the same thing.

  3. penske, dodge that's the problem

  4. it's kurt for going to penske, who runs dodges now. for anyone who says it must be kurt because rusty ran fine in the #2, that was long before he got out and kurt got in, and before it became a dodge in 2003. before that it was a ford and before that a pontiac - those were the good years for rusty and the #2.

i agree with superdave, it's a combination of things. it's definitely not a lack of money because penske is loaded - check him out on wikipedia to see what all that man has control of. the one thing he doesn't have control of, however, is "penske south" or his nascar operation. he's now put all of his operations in the same building hoping something from his teams in other series will rub off, but i'm not counting on it, at least not as long as he's running dodges.

  5. it's not kurt or penske. kurt is a top driver and penske is a top team. It's just that busch has not adjusted to the new car as well as other drivers have.

  6. Roush was definitely the Key to Kurt's success. Even though he has a championship it was a chase championship. If he had the right car he "might" be able to put it in the championship. I think most of his credit was his past cars and not his present. Rusty was consistent in the 2 car. Kurt's not and has not been. I think most of it is Kurt.

  7. I have made it perfectly clear that I don't like either Busch boy.  However, I have to give Kurt some credit, and I do feel that Penske does not put the effort into NASCAR as he does into open wheel.  As far as Kurt going to the #20...They would kill each other.  Hmmm...maybe not a bad idea.  (only kidding).  Some of you tend to get a little emotional when people talk about the #18.

  8. I think it's Penske's fault and some good  old fashion bad luck. boy he could use a change though couldn't he? He's due for some good luck I  think!!

  9. Penske. Thats the reason Newman is leaving, and I`ll bet Kurt wont be far behind!

  10. The crew needs a jolt of wins!

Get better equipment and finish the year as best as they can do...best of luck in 2009!

  11. Neither, it is Dodge. Look at the record books and you will see that Dodge came into the sport with a slow start, but the second year they had things figured out and began winning. Even with Sterling Marlin--who was poised to take the championship until his injury in 2002. Jamie McMurray won in Sterling's car while sub-ing for him!

Ryan Newman wins once as a rookie, and 8 times! his sophmore year in a Dodge. Then Ford cries fowl, and everyone is looking at the downforce on all the cars...Pontiac says enough and pulls out of racing! And Dodge has yet to find the magic it had before....

  12. I put more of the blame on Penske AND Dodge than I do on Kurt.  No Dodge driver has won the championship since Richard Petty in 1975.

    3 STR8 N 08!!!

  13. <<< Im a Kurt Busch fan also(if you couldnt tell..lol). I think its 60% Penske's fault, 20% bad luck, 15% pit crew fault & 5% shooting himself in the foot. A former champion doesnt forget how to win.

As far as the #20, lets let "sliced bread" have it. It would make the week in week out rivalry interesting thats for sure.

I have to add also that I do think Penske concentrates most his efforts to the Indy car series. Not so much when Rusty drove the #2 but now he does.

  14. I am not a fan of Kurt at all but I have always felt that Penske did not give enough attention to his NASCAR teams.

  15. It's a combination of Penske equipment and an entire season of crappy luck and misfortune..

  16. It's neither... it's Dodge.  With the exception of Kasey Kahne over at GEM, the Dodges haven't been "up to snuff" this year.  If Penske were still running Fords or Pontiacs, they could be competitive.
