Is it Legal That I Received No Notice Of Non-Re-Election and Can't Teach Again in the District?

I'm a temporary teacher who received no notice of non-re-election. I only found out on accident through a principal who technically should not have told me. I did receive a notice of dismissal at the end of my temporary contract, but that should not bar me from employment, should I? I know that I am on the "Non Re-Elect" list but I was never officially informed. Can temp. teachers even BE non-re-elected? I have my credential; I was only temporary because I was said to be a leave replacement. Please advise me on this matter!

  1. As a temp you have no retention rights. You filled a needed vacancy on a temp. basis. Contact the local district and put the temp. position on your resume. Good Luck/
