  1. This is quite normal, I've had two hamsters in the past and they've behaved this way. However, as another Answerer said, if your hamster is quite old (Anything above 3 or 4 years old) it may just be general wear-and-tear. Sadly, they have short lifespans. My first lived for four years, and my second for five (which is very good for a hamster)

I wouldn't be concerned with its behaviour. If he has trouble walking, eating, drinking or moving, then it would be a cause for concern.

  2. How old is he? I no when they are babies they over-do things, like exercising until they sooo tired they sleep in their wheel! But if he's older keep an eye on him. Make sure he has plenty of water as well x

  3. Hmm i think it's pretty normal.I just bought a hamter 2 days ago and she does the same thing...she goes off to the same corner and just shakes n stares for a bit and then its like she snaps out of it.lol I've had a total of 9 hamsters and they've all done that...so i guess it's normal...lol

  4. I just bought a baby hamster yesterday...she was standing in the corner of her cage shivering slightly...it was either because the window was open or because she was scared because there were new surroundings. Maybe your little hammy is nervous, play with it a little and build some trust with it. Nothing to worry about though.

  5. he could maybe be uncomfortable with something in his cage if u put something new in try taking it out and see how he reacts. if its not that then maybe he is sick try taking him to a vet.

  6. Not moving for short periods of time is normal, it is called as "freezing" and is normal behavior by hamsters when they are suddenly confronted by a new or strange smell or sound.

However shivering when freezing is not normal at all. It means that either the cage is in a drafty area (like near a window) and it is causing uncomfortable drafts to flow through the cage. In such a case, shift the cage to a warmer area of your home without drafts nearby.

Shivering can also happen if the hamster is sick, so keep a lookout for any other signs of sickness like abnormal pooping, lethargy or sickly looking fur or eyes.

If the hamster is new to your house, then shivering / freezing is normal for a few days until the hamster gets used to his new surroundings. In that case, just leave him alone for a couple of days before you start interacting with him and he should get over this habit once he is comfortable with you and his environment.

  7. try giving it more bedding it this dont help he may have a chill or it might be old age good luck anyway

  8. How long has he been like this, has he had any injury or fallen at all.

Also, how old is your hamster?

For the time being, give him lots of attention, keep an eye on him and put some extra soft bedding around him if he won't move. Try offering him a bit of his favourite treat to see if he reacts.

He may just have worn himself out, if he is younger. However, if he is older, keep a really close eye on him and take him to the vet if you are at all worried.

  9. lol it's normal..i've owned hamsters and they all do that...it's a little meditating thing as i see it lol

just make sure that there aren't any draughts or anything that'd make him cold

  10. are you sure vit has'nt found your stash
