Comparative Q's are harder than other kinds of Q's as anyone who has been asked them on exams, knows. Comparative Q's like for example : how do you compare the Hindu Gods with the Christian idea of a Holy trinity? or What makes Kant both a rationalist and an empiricist? These are Q's that require short or long essays to answer them.

ps the example Q's are examples and are not the topic here. The Q is about the formulation of Q's of certain types that involve knowledge and opinions is the focus.

  1. I ask why not? are we not allowed to think in here? is it a sin to be intellectual? I'm not just asking you. I'm asking the world. no, there is nothing wrong with that type of question. it is a good thing to see things from all sides.

  2. Though I never before made the distinction, "comp&con" Qs are much more difficult to A.  However, they (for that reason) would seem to offer the highest and best potential for one who wished to give great As.  Yet, those of us who posess the ability to wax forth with an articulate and elegant A should likely resist that temptation, as the Q asker may harbor alterior motives.

Unfortunately, it is likely students who are seeking to find an easy way out for Qs their instructors have laid upon them.  As such, my inclination would be to A with search links that highlight relevant entries contained within larger on-line descriptions.  I generally also include snipets of usefull "big picture" explanations to help point the happless ne'er-do-well in the right direction.

If all goes as planned...learning will be the end result!
