  3. I don't see a problem with this.  She, not the husband, is your friend.  Most of the time, the groomsmen are friends of the groom, so especially if he is not a close friend of the groom, he would not be asked.  

    If the couple is supposed to be mutual friends with you & your fiance', you might have a tougher situation.

  4. I think it's perfectly fine to do that.  My best friend will be my matron of honor and her husband will not be a groomsman at my wedding.
