  1. No.  If a child is sick you might be giving baby aspirin or something similar.

None of these medications PREVENT a child from getting sick, they are merely to help relieve symptoms of a sickness.

Teaching children to take medication when it isn't needed helps create addiction problems in later life.

  2. If you read the instructions it states consult a doctor.

I think that would be wiser then asking people on here.

  3. Tylenol does not cure or prevent sickness. It treats symptoms (fever, pain).

  4. Tylenol  is a Pain reliever and fever reducer not a sickness preventer.

You should ONLY give your child tylenol Once your kid is sick, with pain or fever.

To prevent sickness, feed them a well balanced diet, including veggies and fruits.

Sometimes  kids just have to get sick to imrpove their inmune system.

  5. there is children's tylenol or baby's

    you should give them that

    just incase

  6. Ask a Doctor

  7. No. Tylenol won't prevent anything unless you know for sure they will be in pain (example) prior to shots -

Otherwise it doesn't help ward off anything - like illness.

  8. Why would you ever think that giving Tylenol would PREVENT sickness?  Have you ever read a bottle of Infant's Tylenol?  It says, "Effective relief for fever and pain for babies up to 3 years old."  Nowhere does it say anything about Tylenol being given in the absence of sickness as a preventative measure.

  9. Tylenol does not prevent any kind of sickness. Tylenol should only be given for pain and/or fever.

  10. How will tylenol prevent sickness? It is a pain medication.

  11. Tylenol is designed to relieve fever/discomfort. Sickness is a result of infection; Tylenol cannot prevent it.

Tylenol should be taken ONLY when absolutely needed. It can be hard on the liver, so it isn't something to mess around with.

  12. NO

    1) you should never give a child medicine unless he or she NEEDS it.

    2) tylenol will NOT prevent sickness.

  13. Nope, this is why you have your babies shots which most prevent sickness.

  14. Tylenol will not prevent sickness.

  15. No don't give your child medicine to prevent sickness . The child will get sick reguardless and his or her body will be use to the medicine that won't work for when it is time to really give it . NO STOP NOW PLEASE !

  16. Let me fill u in on sometthing here.  Im not trying to be a SOB but WHAT ARE U THINKING!  All  tylenol does is kill your liver.  That stuff is not good to take at all unless u realy need it. Some people take it because they "need it".  I rarely take it only if i have a real need for it. I wud not suggest giving it to a baby.  It weakenns their immune system.

  17. No not a good idea.

You could give the child a little extra vitamin C by feeding him/ her an orange or some orange juice. I'm not sure how well that helps but you should never give a child medicine if the are not sick.  Actually some pediatricians don't even prescribe anything for just the common cold, they only suggest giving them Tylenol if they have a high temperature.

  18. Where did you get this idea?  Ask a doctor!

  19. NEVER!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! give a child tylenol to prevent sickness bc doing that will cause the child to get sick and that is something that u dont want

  20. Tylenol doesn't prevent illness.  The only thing Tylenol does is reduce fever and relieve pain.  That's it.

Illnesses are caused by bacteria or viruses.  Tylenol cannot kill bacteria, it cannot destroy viruses.  It cannot prevent illness.  It only treats 2 of the symptoms of illness.

There are NO over-the-counter medications that you can give your child to kill bacteria or a virus that they've been exposed to.  Even over-the-counter cold medication doesn't PREVENT a cold - it only makes the symptoms more tolerable.

  21. You can't be serious. Tylenol CAN NOT prevent illness but you give enough of it, your child will end up with liver damage. Then you'll really have a sick kid.

  22. Did you pass the parenting test?

Do you take tylenol when you're not sick? Seriously.

  23. Tylenol does NOT prevent anything.  It is used to to either reduce pain, and or symptoms.

  24. tylenol doesn't prevent sickness, it only helps for fever or pain relief

  25. I don't think tylenol prevents sickness, just cures what they all ready have.  I wouldn't do it just to be safe.

  26. Don't EVER give a baby regular medicine unless the doctor says too. Also Tylenol is to cure sickness not prevent it!

  27. Sorry Love,

There really isnt any medicine, including Tylonal or Motrin, that can prevent sickness.

The only time you really ever want to give medicine is when the child is sick with a fever or pain.  Other wise, it is best to just avoid it.

If the child was around some one who is sick or was exposed to some illness, its best to just wait and see if the child will get it.  I am one who believes in good germs.  Its ok to let your kid get sick once in awhile, that is how their immune system is built up and will help them fight other illnesses and infections that may come in the future.

    Good luck!

  28. NEVER NEVER give it to your child unless they really need it!

my step daughters mother gave it to her everyday to "prevent" sickness. When she turned 8 my step daughter was feeling tired all the time... so after her father and I took her to a million doctors it was discovered that the tylenol has been poisoning her! My now 9 year old step daughter is probably going to need a liver transplant before she is an adult!!!

If you don't believe it can happen....talk to a doctor! Please!!!!!
