Is it OK to take a metal detector into Manuel Antonio Park in Costa Rica if you are only going to "look" but

why would you take a metal detector to the park if you do not plan to dig any of your findings up?

I would ask for permission before excavating anything however I see no harm taking a metal detector into the park.  It is worth sending an email to some of the volunteer organizations who work with the national parks in Costa Rica for their input before actually doing anything.
